Nitasha Baijnath-Pillay joined Hortgro in April 2024 in the newly created role of Resource Management and Sustainability Manager. A key part of her work involves progressing the organisation’s Resource Management and Sustainability (RMS) programme, which aims to direct the industry towards a more resilient future. Nitasha had a distinguished career in environmental and sustainability positions before joining Hortgro. Her roles included being an environmental specialist advisor at the National Department of Forestry, Fisheries & the Environment (DFFE), as well as a range of positions at the Western Cape Provincial Department of Environmental Affairs & Development Planning, covering issues such as air quality, pollution prevention, chemicals management as well as policy development, spanning 20 years in these fields.
